1. भारत में हर साल 1 मई को मजदूर दिवस मनाया जाता है, जबकि यूनाइटेड स्टेट में 5 September को मनाया जाता है
2. मजदूर दिवस को लेबर डे, मई दिवस, श्रमिक दिवस और मजदूर दिवस भी कहा जाता है।
3. अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय मजदूर दिवस की शुरुआत 1 मई 1886 को अमेरिका में एक आंदोलन से हुई थी। इसमें मजदूर लोग से रोजाना 15-15 घंटे काम करवाया जाता था।
4. मजदूरों के आन्दोलन को दबाने के लिए पुलिस ने गोलिया चलायी, जिसमे कई मजदूरों की मौत हो गई। तब 1889 में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समाजवादी सम्मेलन की दूसरी बैठक में इस प्रस्ताव को पारित किया।
5.  पारित प्रस्ताव के नियमनुसार दिन सभी कामगारों और श्रमिकों को एक दिन अवकाश मिलेगा, साथ ही पूरी दुनिया के तमाम देशों में काम का समय 8 घंटे निर्धारित किया गया।
6. भारत में मजदूर दिवस की शुरुआत चेन्नई में 1 मई 1923 में हुई।
7. मजदूर गरीब होते है और वे हमारे यहाँ काम करते है तो इसका इसका मतलब ये नहीं की हम भेदभाव करें और उनको सम्मान नहीं दे।
8. आप शायद सोच नहीं सकते है, एक मजदूर पूरे दिन भर ईट और पत्थरों का वजन उठाते है हुए कितनी मेहनत करते है, जबकि हम तो एक घंटा भी उनके जितना काम नहीं कर सकते है।
