दशहरा त्यौहार हिन्दू कैलेंडर के अनुसार आश्विन माह की दशमी तिथि को मनाया जाता है।
इस दिन भगवान राम ने रावण का वध किया था और इसी दिन देवी दुर्गा नौ दिन के युद्ध के बाद दसवें दिन महिषासुर पर विजय प्राप्त की थी।
ये दिन को असत्य पर सत्य की जीत के रूप में मनाया जाता हैं।
एक बड़े से मैदान में रावण तथा उसके पुत्र मेघनाद और कुम्भकर्ण के विशाल पुतले लगायें जाते हैं।
इस दिन गाँव और शहर में मेलों का आयोजन होता है, जिसमे आसपास और दूर दूर से आये लोगों की भीड़ जमा होती हैं।
मेले में तरह तरह झूलें और स्वादिष्ट व्यंजनों की दुकाने लगी होती हैं। जिसका लोग भरपूर आनंद लेते हैं।
दशहरा पर रामलीला का आयोजन होता है, जिसमे भगवान राम के आदर्शो को बताया जाता है साथ ही प्रभु राम और रावण के मध्य युद्ध होता हैं।
शाम के समय रावण तथा उसके पुत्र मेघनाद और कुम्भकर्ण का दहन अग्नि तीर से किया जाता हैं। रावण के जलने के साथ उसमे पटाखों के धमाके होते है।
जिस तरह बुराई अग्नि में जलकर नष्ट हो जाती है। उसी तरह हमें भी अपने भीतर की बुराई को नष्ट कर देना चाहिए।
