  1. गौतम बुद्ध का जन्म 563 ईसा पूर्व लुंबिनी में इक्ष्वाकु वंश के राजा शुद्धोधन के घर हुआ था।
  2. इनकी माता का नाम महामाया था, जिनका गौतम बुद्ध के जन्म के कुछ दिनों बाद देहांत हो गया था।
  3. गौतम बुद्ध का पालन पोषण महामाया की बहन महाप्रजापती गौतमी ने किया।
  4. 16 वर्ष की आयु में इनका विवाह यशोधरा से हुआ। इससे उन्हें एक पुत्र प्राप्त हुआ। जिसका नाम राहुल था।
