  1. डॉ. सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन हमारे भारत के महान शिक्षक थे। इनका जन्म  तमिलनाडु के तिरुवल्लूर जिले के तिरूत्तनी ग्राम में 5 सितम्बर 1888 को ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था।
  2. डॉ. सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन ने 1952 में प्रथम उप-राष्ट्रपति पद पर कार्य किया इसके बाद वे 1962 में भारत के दूसरे नंबर के राष्ट्रपति बने।
  3. डॉ. सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन के पिता का नाम ‘सर्वपल्ली वीरासमियाह’ और माता का नाम ‘सीताम्मा’ था। सर्वपल्ली वीरासमियाह’  राजस्व विभाग में काम करते थे।
  4. डॉ. राधाकृष्णन के पिता के 5 बेटे और एक बेटी थी राधाकृष्णन 5 बेटो में दुसरे नंबर के बेटे थे।
  5. डॉ. राधाकृष्णन गरीब परिवार से थे। उनका परिवार भी बड़ा था इसलिए उनके पिता काफ़ी कठिनाई परिवार का पालन पोषण कर रहे थे और इसी वजह राधाकृष्णन सुख-सुविधाओं से वंचित रहे।
  6. इनकी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा लूनर्थ मिशनरी स्कूल, तिरुपति और वेल्लूर में हुई। इसके बाद उन्होंने मद्रास क्रिश्चियन कॉलेज में पढ़ाई की। 1903 में युवती सिवाकाम सिवाकामू के साथ विवाह किया।
  7. राधाकृष्णन ने  दर्शनशास्त्र में एम०ए० करने के बाद 1918 में उनको मैसुर महाविद्यालय में दर्शनशास्त्र के सहायक प्राध्यापक  के लिए चुना गया इसके बाद उन्होंने उसी कॉलेज में वे प्राध्यापक भी रहे।
  8. वर्ष 1962 में राधाकृष्णन के शिष्यों  ने उनके जन्मदिन को मनाने की इच्छा बताई तो उन्होंने कहा ‘मेरे लिए इससे बड़े सम्मान की बात और कुछ हो ही नहीं सकती कि मेरा जन्मदिन शिक्षक दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाए।
  9. 1931 में ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य द्वारा “सर” की उपाधि दी गयी  इसके बाद भारत के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति डॉ॰ राजेंद्र प्रसाद जी ने 1954 में उनकी महान दार्शनिक व शैक्षिक उपलब्धियों के लिये सर्वोच्च अलंकरण भारत रत्न प्रदान किया।
  10. भारत के महान शिक्षक डॉ. सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन का 86 वर्ष की उम्र में 17 अप्रैल 1975 को निधन हो गया।

  4. शिक्षक के सम्मान के लिए पुरे भारत में स्कूल और कॉलेज में शिक्षक दिवस मनाया जाता है। इस दिन सरकार श्रेष्ठ शिक्षकों को पुरस्कार से सम्मानित करती है।

  1. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the great teacher of our India. He was born on 5 September 1888 in a Brahmin family in Tiruttani village of Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.
  2. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan served as the first Vice-President in 1952, after which he became the second President of India in 1962.
  3. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s father’s name was ‘Sarvepalli Veerasamiah’ and mother’s name was ‘Seetamma’. Sarvepalli Veerasmiyah’ used to work in the Revenue Department.
  4. Dr. Radhakrishnan’s father had 5 sons and a daughter. Radhakrishnan was the second son in 5 sons.

  6. He had his early education at Lunarth Missionary School, Tirupati and Vellore. After this he studied at Madras Christian College. In 1903 he married a young woman Sivakam Sivakamu.
  7. After Radhakrishnan did his MA in Philosophy, in 1918 he was selected for Assistant Professor of Philosophy in Mysore College, after which he also remained a professor in the same college.
  8. In the year 1962, when Radhakrishnan’s disciples expressed their desire to celebrate his birthday, they said, ‘There can be no greater honor for me than that my birthday should be celebrated as Teacher’s Day.
  9. The title of “Sir” was given by the British Empire in 1931. After this, the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, in 1954, awarded the highest decoration Bharat Ratna for his great philosophical and educational achievements.
  10. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the great teacher of India, died on 17 April 1975 at the age of 86.
