पारम्परिक रूप से सेनाओं के तीन भाग हुआ करते हैं: थलसेना – जो धरती पर लड़ती है, नौसेना – जो समुद्रों, झीलों व नदियों पर लड़ती है और वायुसेना – जो विमानों के ज़रिये आकाश में लड़ती है।

सभी सैनिक के अलग अलग तरीके से देश की रक्षा करते है। जैसे:- सीमा पहरा देना, देश में बने महत्वपूर्ण स्थानों और छावनियों की रक्षा करना और देश को संचालित करने वाले नेता की रक्षा करना आदि।
सैनिकों के सम्मान के लिए हर 15 जनवरी को सैनिक दिवस मनाया जाता है और हर साल 26 जनवरी और 15 अगस्त मनाया जाता है ।इस दिन वीर शहीदों को याद किया जाता है।

Traditionally, armies have three divisions: the Army – which fights on land, the Navy – which fights on the seas, lakes and rivers, and the Air Force – which fights in the sky by aircraft.
It is not so easy to become a soldier because in it one has to go through many examinations giving pain to the body. In front of which good warriors get battered.
The life of a soldier is very simple. They have nothing to do with comforts because their life is always full of struggle and risk.
A soldier can only become a person who has true love for the country in his heart. One who is not afraid of dying.
Every person who liberated our country was a soldier. Who sacrificed his life for the country.
The soldier is ready to live in any circumstances. Be it dense forest, bone-chilling winter, snowy mountains or burning sand of desert or scorching heat, it tolerates all.
The government honors Vir Chakra to every soldier who makes sacrifices for the country, which is a matter of great pride. The names of such soldiers are always written in golden letters.
All soldiers protect the country in different ways. Such as:- Guarding the border, protecting the important places and cantonments built in the country and protecting the leader who runs the country etc.
