  1. रेलगाड़ी का पहला अविष्कार रिचर्ड ट्रेविथिक ने सन् 1804 में एक भाप के इंजन के साथ किया था। इसके बाद जार्ज स्टीफेन्सन ने रेलगाड़ी बनाई, जिसकी रफ़्तार 24 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटा थी।
  2. रेलगाड़ी एक बहुत लम्बा यातायात का साधन है, जिसमे हजारो लोग एक साथ बैठ सकते है। रेलगाड़ी में कई डिब्बे होते है जिन्हे बोगी बोलते है।

  6. भारत की रेलवे सेवा पूरी दुनिया की चौथी सबसे बड़ी रेलवे सेवा है। पहली रेलगाड़ी 16 अप्रैल,1853  मुंबई के बोरीबंदर से ठाणे तक चलाई गयी।
  7. रेलगाड़ी दो प्रकार की होती है। एक जिसमे पैसेंजर जिसमे लोग बैठते है और दूसरी मालगाड़ी जिसमे माल ढोया जाता है ये रेलगाड़ी बहुत लम्बी होती है।
  8. रेलगाड़ी में कई सुविधाएँ होती है जैसे: बैठने और सोने के लिए सीट, पंखा, ए.सी. और खाने पीने व शौचालय की तमाम सुविधाएँ होती है।
  9.  आज कल की ट्रेन पहले की ट्रेनों से काफी देश तेजी से चलती जो आपको बहुत कमर में गंतव्य तक पहुंचा देती है जिससे  समय की बचत होती है।
  10. रेलगाड़ी के रुकने के लिए स्टेशन होते है जहाँ वो अपने निश्चित समय पर रूकती और चलती है।  रेल को को चलाने व रोकने का निर्देश लाल और हरी झण्डी से मिलता है

  6. रेलगाड़ी से जहाँ हमे सुविधाएँ मिली है वही इसके कई बार नुकसान उठाने पड़े है। जिसमे मानवीय कारणों से रेलगाड़ी दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होती है और रेलगाड़ी जब जंगलो से निकलती है तो कई बेजुबान जानवर इसकी चपेट में आ जाते है।
